Author Guidelines

The following are the general guidelines for preparing manuscripts for submission to the Journal of Islamic Banking, Economics and Policy (JIBEP):

  1. The manuscript must align with the scope of JIBEP and contribute to scholarly debates in Islamic banking, finance, economics, or policy.

  2. The paper must comply with the APA 7th Edition referencing style.

  3. Manuscripts should not exceed 7,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures.

  4. The manuscript must be written in English (UK).

  5. The similarity index must be below 19%, preferably under 15%.

  6. Submissions derived from a thesis must be appropriately revised, with a declaration included at the time of submission.

  7. The corresponding author must clearly indicate each author’s contribution and upload a signed Authorship Consent Form at the time of submission.

  8. Figures and tables must be clear, properly labeled, and included within the text body.

  9. The submission must not include guest, gift, or ghost authorship.

  10. All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through JIBEP’s OJS submission system; simultaneous submissions are prohibited.

  11. Ethical approval must be obtained (if applicable) and stated in the paper.

  12. The use of AI tools for writing assistance must be declared and limited to language support only.

  13. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest or funding sources.

  14. Once accepted, authors are responsible for checking proofs carefully before publication.

  15. By submitting to JIBEP, authors confirm agreement with the journal’s Open Access Policy, Publication Ethics, and Copyright & Licensing Terms.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to ensure that their manuscripts comply with the following guidelines. Submissions that fail to meet these standards may be returned prior to review.

✅ The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration elsewhere (or an explanation has been provided in “Comments to the Editor”).

✅ The file is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

✅ URLs and DOIs for all references have been provided where available.

✅ The text is 1.5-spaced, uses 11-point Times New Roman or equivalent serif font, and includes figures and tables embedded within the text at appropriate points rather than at the end.

✅ The manuscript follows the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

✅ The similarity index is below 19% (preferably under 15%) as per the JIBEP Plagiarism Policy.

✅ The submission complies with JIBEP’s Research Ethics Guidelines and COPE Code of Conduct.

Research Articles

This section is dedicated to publishing original research articles that offer theoretical, empirical, or methodological contributions to the fields of Islamic banking, Islamic finance, economic policy, and Shariah-compliant financial systems.
